best birthday present

it was my birthday yesterday!!  i was able to have a really great birthday weekend due to some really great people in my life.  on friday, jared kept the kids while my mom, my sister, and i went to rubio's for dinner.  after my sister and i were able to go shopping for a little bit without children.  it was so nice.

yesterday my sister kept my children while jared and i went for a little jaunt to slc.  we went to a place i have wanted to go to for sometime.  it is called george's architectural salvage.  i found the greatest sign ever!!  it is going to hang in my kitchen once i find the perfect spot for it.  after george's jared and i hit a couple of other shops and went to our favorite hole in the wall, charlie chow's.  yummy.

we got home around 8:00 where my sister and the kids had managed to set up a surprise for me.  when i was on the phone with her earlier i had told her that if she was done she could just leave and go home.  when we got home, her car was not there and all the lights were off.  i thought she had taken the kids and gone to my mom's or she had taken me up on my offer for her to leave.  we went into the house where we were instantly greeted by just lily and the smell of smoke.  i was kind of nervous because she was all alone with no one around.  it was so weird.  then shay and all the kids popped out yelling surprise and handing my a candle-lit birthday cake.  it was a perfect ending to a great day!!
