i know what you are thinking.
that precious face could never cause any trouble.
well think again.

well kasen has had a few hiccups in his little life lately. jared had last friday off from work so the little girls, him, and i went and ran a few errands about town. we were in petco when my friend who works at the elementary as a recess aid called me and started her conversation with, "i just wanted to give you a heads up on what happened today." well apparently kasen and one of his little friends went into the school during recess (a big no-no). but to make matters worse they went into the girls bathroom and proceeded to play in there. a little 2nd grader came along and told them to get out but they did not listen. he went to get his teacher who happens to be one of my favorite people in the whole world. she took them to the recess aids who then took them to the principals office. they had to spend some time talking to mr. sederholm and then they had to do a pink think sheet after everything was said and done. well when kasen arrived home, jared and i sat him down and discussed what his punishment was going to be and what he was going to do to make things better. he cannot play with friends for a week and he had to write "i am sorry" notes to several people including the principal, his teacher, and mrs. gubler (my fav). that night jared said to me, "well it could have been worse, he could have beat a kid up on the playground." don't speak to fast, you might have to eat your words.

we spent the weekend writing his notes and on monday morning i told him i was going to come and get him after school so he could deliver the notes. when i arrived at the school (late) i could not find anyone. i saw kasen's friend, noah, and asked him if he knew where kasen was. his answer was, "oh, he got in a fight so he is in the principal's office." special. well i drove around to the front of the school (we pick up in the back) and went in. i could not find the kids anywhere in the school. as i was walking down the hall, i ran into mrs. gubler (my fav again). she gave me a hug and told me i was a great mom. great she must have been a part of the second visit also. she told me braylie came and got her and told her there was a fight and her brother was in the middle. she said when she got there kids were swinging at each other so she sent them to the principal's office. then mr. sederholm walked by. i was almost in tears when she said, "mr. sederholm, this is the mother of the little one who was just in your office." he said, "the blonde?" and i said, "oh the one who was in your office just last friday. oh and here is your "i am sorry" note." this was just getting better. he proceeded to tell me that there was an altercation with a few first graders (kasen and gang) and a third grader, but the only one who was crying was the third grader. he had sent them home and was going to take care of this in the morning.
well i managed to find my children and kasen and i went and delivered all of his "i am sorry" notes. mrs gubler was wonderful as usual and told kasen that he is a great little boy and that she really appreciated his efforts to apologize. we went home and once again jared and i sat down with him to find out what happened. after grilling him for over a half hour the story we came up with was that the third grader has been calling them names and picking on them. when they walked out of the school, the third grader asked them if they wanted to fight. kasen said no but the third grader grabbed kasen's friends, noah's (yes the little boy who said kasen was in trouble, the one who knows when to remove himself from the situation) shirt and yanked on him. kasen got upset and wanted to protect noah so he slugged the third grader in the tummy. the third grader the hit kasen in the forhead. kasen says he doesn't remember what happened after that. he was upset though that braylie ran and told on him and that now he was in trouble. we told him that she was just worried about him and didn't want him to get hurt.

all in all they really didn't get into much trouble. the principal told them he doesn't allow fighting and if they do it again, they will be in super trouble. we told him we were proud of him for sticking up for his friend, but we never, never hit anyone. hopefully, the boys taught the third grader a lesson and he will leave them alone from now on. only time will tell.

Wow!! I love your stories. Kasen is such a crack up. Hopefully it will get better from here. Don't you just love boys?!
boys will be boys! at least you know he's not a wuss.
I love that he stood up for his friend, and sounds like you handled it like a pro. But wow, what a pair of experiences!
Even though I had already heard the story in real life, it was fun to read. Ben has had an "exciting" week too (I just got off the phone with his teacher). At least we'll have good stories to tell our grandkids about when their dads were little. :)
oh and it's just the beginning!! I love it though, he's such a cutie.
