new old room

so i haven't quite finished addy and lily's room yet.  but as i have been pondering what i am going to do in there, i realized i have never posted the room we finished for braylie a little over a year ago for her birthday.  so here it is.
this was braylie on her 9th birthday.  she knew she was getting a bedroom and had seen the paint on the walls, but seeing everything together was a surprise.
cute sister love.  man they were so little.
this picture was taken when my friend from arizona came to stay with us which is why there is a mat on the floor.  it was where her son slept.  that night water leaked through the window and flooded the room.  jared and i had to tear up the brand new carpet and spent several hours cleaning up water.  we had a fan going for three days to dry it all up.
my dad and i made braylie the bed for her birthday when she turned five.  it is adorable and was so inexpensive.  it is now one of my favorite memories with my dad.  she really liked this bedding so i planned the room around it.
i painted the room one color blue then i realized it was brighter than i wanted it.  i went to the paint store to get more paint and the lady told me that if i wanted to go lighter i was going to have to reprime the whole thing.  jared came home the next day to a newly primed room and i was starting to repaint the actual color i wanted.  this was two days before her birthday and the day before the carpet was laid.
i know this chair is ugly but it is my favorite chair ever!!  it was jared's grandparents chair.  i nursed all of my children in this rocker.  it can lay back without kicking up the foot rest and it will still rock while leaning back.  even when you kick up the foot rest it you can keep laying it back even more if you want. there were many nights i slept in this chair with a baby in my arms.
WARNING: these next pictures are of a room that has not been cleaned for a while.  this is the vinyl tree my sister made for me.  it is on her closet doors.  I could not take a picture of the floor because you would be mortified.  lets just say the doors are open because i could not shut them all the way.
this is the other side of the room.  can you tell this child is a pack rat?  that is my childhood desk.  my dad  made the hutch for me when i was in high school.  under one of the drawers he put how much he loves me and the date.
the book shelf.  braylie and kasen were going through the books finding all of the small chapter books for kasen to put on his book shelf.  the quote above the shelves is a verse from one of my favorite primary songs.
this is what the room usually looks like.  you know - lived in.  oh the boards on the wall above the dresser and above the beloved chair are magnet boards for her to hang papers on.  there is nothing on the ones above her dresser because she has been given strict instructions not to hang anything there.  they are more for decoration than anything.  i think i need to make some of these for lily and addy's room.
these are the curtains.  i love how these turned out.
