we went to antelope island for jake's birthday. on our way to the ranch we saw a buffalo fairly close to the car. we watched it for a minute. then it came down the hill to cross the road. the kids were so excited to see it so close. braylie was getting upset because she thought it was going to attack the van. it came down within a couple of feet of the van, then went across the road to lay down on the other side. it was huge!!

we made it to the ranch. we had lunch with angela and her kids and her sister-in-laws and their kids. we had a little birthday party and cupcakes with sharks. the kids had a blast at the ranch and we think they were driving the lady who was watching the guest book and donation waters crazy. (she kept winding up the lassos every time the kids would use them.) they ran all over but there really was not any people around.
after the ranch, we went to the beach. the beach was at least a quarter of a mile away, which does not sound far but when you walk it in the hot, hot soft sand with children, it might as well be miles and miles away. when we got there the beach looked black. when you got closer you realize that the beach is black because of the millions and millions of bugs on the beach and water. needless to say we didn't last very long there. the kids had a blast though. even lily finally started to like the water. it was a fun day spent with our great friends.
(thanks ang for the pics)
