fun day over uea

i tried to find something fun to do with the kids over uea.  gardner village has amazing witches on display throughout the village, so i thought we could go spend the day there looking around.
we were almost to the village when i noticed lots and lots of people walking and parking within a half mile of the village.  i was really hoping it had nothing to do with the village but since there really isn't anything else out there, it was inevitable.  the worst part was pulling into the parking lot and having to pay $5 just to park.  i asked what was going on and the parking attendant told me it was "little witches" day for the children.
apparently "little witches" day is where everyone who has little children in the valley bring their families to gardner village to walk around and spend at least an extra $2 to $5 (and possibly $35) at each store.  it actually was a lot of fun.  there was face painting, hair painting, fingernail painting, and fun.
the kids and i spent time looking around for the witch scavenger hunt.  we found all but one witch on the sheet and went for our cookies at the bakery afterwards.
i told the kids they could each pick something to do.  kasen wanted his hair painted, but after waiting in a line for fifteen minutes and not moving, he changed his mind.  he went for the halloween jacks at the doll store instead.
addy of course laid eyes on the cotton candy booth the minute we walked into the village.  she whined and whined until i gave in and bought her some.  then after taking two bites, she decided it didn't taste very good and gave it to her sister.
lily loved riding in her stroller.  she enjoyed being pushed around and watching all the crazy people who would dare go to the village on a day like this.
braylie couldn't decide on what she wanted.  we walked around and tried to find something for her but i think all the people there were a little bit overwhelming to her (she is just like her parents).  finally she decided she would get her fingernails painted.  we waited and waited and finally her and addy were up (it was free).
we even ran into one of my old friends from my mom and dad's ward.  it was fun to see her again and her very cute boys.  it had been almost twelve years or so since i had seen her last.
all in all we had a great time.  but the best part of it all was when we were walking out to the car and kasen said out of the blue, "thanks mom for bringing us here and getting us a prize."  the family that was walking behind us even heard him and commented on what polite children i had.   wow, what a payoff.  i love those great "mom moments."   i truly am blessed.
happy halloween!!

You are a brave mom to do that by yourself. I always make Nate go with me on big outings like that. I'm glad it turned out to be such a great day.
