black eyes and pumkin pies

thanksgiving was eventful this year like always. we went to my mom and dad's for dinner this year. kalie and brad were up visiting. it was fun. mom wanted a large family picture for a christmas card and i needed one for our little family. this was the best picture of the bunch. this was actually taken after all the others and my kids had to be called back for this one. you can imagine their excitement, hence the forced smiles. after my mom and dad's we went to jared's parents for pie. lily started running one of her classic make mom-panic-and-turn-into-a-paranoid-freak-103.5 fevers on thanksgiving night. lovely. right before our annual weekend stay at sherwood hills for the weekend (more on that later).
i thought these pictures were hilarious and if you know my addy you will understand them to a tee. jared called me one night while i was at the church making gingerbread houses for the up and coming enrichment night and said "addy fell on her bed and now she has a black eye." i thought maybe just a bruise but when i got home it was a full on black, swollen eye. no one really knows what happened but she now has a permanent indent by her eye where the bruise was. it sure makes for a cute little dimple. however, a couple of days later i wanted proof of the black eye (granted it wasn't as purple, kind of starting to turn yellow-brown). so i told her to come here so i could take a picture. this is what i got:
i told her to smile but you couldn't really see it.
so then i told her to smile with her mouth shut, but then she just looked constipated.
so then i told her to look surprised. (by this time i was laughing so hard i couldn't keep the camera still.) then for the best shot of the eye and the sweetest look from my three-year-old i just told her to look over there. see the bright pink-purple spot, that is where her new dimple exsists. fun stuff.
