popcorn, candy, late night movies

we thought it would be fun to celebrate the end of the school year and kick off the summer by taking the kids out for a fun night. we had been looking forward to seeing night at the museum since we first saw the trailer to it. i thought the kids are at a perfect age to take them to the drive-in. jared was pretty skepical about the whole idea. he was really worried about the baby.

the night went something like this:
*the grocery store and the pizza store to pick up some snacks and dinner.
*then target for some batteries and a birthday gift for the party in the morning.
*get settled. kids get blankets dirty. shake blankets out. shoes off. get settled again.
*eat dinner. drink soda. eat snacks.
*baby throws up. jared rolls eyes.
*clean baby up. get her pajamas on. get baby to sleep in her seat in the truck.
*mom takes pictures. (this is why mom is never in them.) dad rolls eyes again.
*get settled to watch movie. wait hour and a half for movie to start.
*eat more snacks. drink more soda.
*movie starts. yeah!!
*jared falls asleep. addy falls asleep. jared is snoring.
*movie is over. clean up and go home. kids are hyper in the back from all the soda and snacks. they talk all the way home, then crash in bed. these pictures are more for jared and i to remember what a pill this child is to change. my mom watched her once and said she had to have my dad hold her down in order to change her diaper. even our sitters have commented on how hard she is to get dressed. i wish i could have gotten a picture of her face because she was screaming at this point. what a good dad (and husband) to take care of this little one and dress her. it is an olympic feat.
i took these pictures one right after another. i need them in a fast moving slide show so you could see how difficult she really is.
this picture says it all. he finally had to pin her under his legs to get her socks on. you can probably imagine the screaming and crying that goes along with that face.
all in all we had tons of fun and the baby slept through most of it. the kids had a blast. they keep asking when can we go again. the movie was worth seeing, but not as good as the first.

Success. Dads just don't know that everything goes like that when you are the mom. You are just used to it.
